This is cool:

I have to admire someone who could leave the relative comfort of the Nile Valley and go off trekking through the desert. That takes a lot more guts than I have!
The idea of a correlation between the geography of Chad and the geography of the Underworld as described in the Amduat is intriguing. I’ve often thought that the distances mentioned were peculiarly specific and this could well explain that.
Very cool. Considering the archaeological evidence for a great number of Saharan cultures prior to desertification, I wonder if there are any additional connections to be discovered.

Oh, I’m sure there are. Contrary to what many Egyptologists seem to believe, Egypt did not exist in a vacuum. Unfortunately, the persistent strife that bedevils countries like Chad and Sudan isn’t exactly conducive to fieldwork, so it may take us a long time to amass the evidence necessary to properly evaluate these ancient connections. 😦
