As you probably guessed from the URL, my name is Jason Loch. I’m a freelance writer/editor from Wisconsin. My work has appeared in publications such as Xconomy.com, Urban Gaming Elite, and Wisconsin Health News, and I am also an editorial consultant with ACI Information Group.
History has always been my passion, and I have an MA in the subject from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I may have left the ivory tower, but that hasn’t stopped me from pontificating about all sorts of arcane subjects. In fact, I have a whole blog dedicated to the British constitution that you can check out if you’re so inclined.
In my spare time, I write speculative fiction. Most of my stories are set in fantastic versions of ancient Egypt and ancient Rome, but I’ve been known to dabble in science fantasy, too. Two of my short pieces have been published in Tendrils and Tentacles, an anthology written by Madison-area authors.
I’m a huge gamer. I’m a sucker for games with a great story (Planescape Torment is my all-time favorite game), but I also love the mindless hack-n-slash action of Diablo and Titan Quest. Strategy games are pretty darn awesome, too. I love Age of Empires II, and I’m psyched that Microsoft is injecting new life into the game after so many years.
I’m a huge fan of tabletop RPGs such as Pathfinder, Numenera, and D & D, though I don’t get to play them nearly as often as I would like.
There’s little rhyme or reason to this blog–it’s just a place for me to discuss whatever strikes my fancy. If you want to get in touch with me, you can email me at jason DOT loch AT gmail DOT com. I’m also on Twitter (@JasonLoch).
